DMMC 2011

Many of you have heard about the Dunwoody Manhattan Memorial Climb Hubby did on 9/10/11, but I wanted to share our family pictures of the day.  It was the 1st annual climb in remembrance of 9/11.  It was put together by one of the firefighters Hubby works with and all the proceeds were going to the GA Firefighters Burn Foundation.  Hubby was totally on board as soon as he heard about it and made a goal to raise $250 by himself for the event ( I think he raised a little over $300 :)  It was an early morning, but we loaded up the car and made our way to Dunwoody to watch him climb.  It was a great way to remember the day and we are all looking forward to next year. (I am hoping we can climb next year too :)

The kids and I made signs to carry and put on the stroller.

This is the tower...26 stories up. Hubby, like a lot of the other firemen, wore his gear in honor of the 323 firefighters who perished that day.  He said all the way up the walls were lined with their names printed out.
A quick picture before he headed up...

We ate a snack while we waited for Hubby.   There were a lot of people, police, firefighters, and media to watch.  He actually came back so fast I wasn't sure he was down.  He must have booked it up and down those stairs!
Family picture!

It was a wonderful morning and definitely probably going to become a yearly tradition.  I couldn't find the totals on the # of climbers and amount raised, but I know it was pretty awesome.  Hundreds of people where there.  We were blessed to be a part of it.

Since we were in ATL we actually spent the rest of the day running to IKEA and a quick trip to the Varsity...hard to pass that one up!  It was a beautiful day!
I know my family is partial to the "holiday", but my heart really does belong to a firefighter and I love even more that they are a family.  We really will never forget the price they paid, and the price they are willing to pay everyday. We love our everyday hero!
